oh lorries I'm sorry
Yeah... the title says it all.

So I haven't posted in a week... x_X I'm sorry. It hasn't been real interesting... well. The weekend was okay. xD

So, quick run-down.
Friday:
Went to work as usual, nothing really interesting. More cell cultures, etc. The dude who works in the same lab as me, his name is Matt, (not bad looking o.O) knows my work schedule by heart. It was pretty flattering. He's really nice too... and no, I'm not COMPLETELY exaggerating everything... xD

Anyways, so that evening we went to Danny's house for a party; his house is huge, his family is okay, pretty nice. Danny is freaking tall and skinny... he's really nice too. He has a chubby little brother, who is... um. Well. There were a bunch little guys running around, and it got confusing after a while. The only one who I could keep track of was Will, who I already knew beforehand. Anyways, the only people who I can remember and keep straight are 1. Danny (he happens to work for my dad this summer) 2. Richard (a junior-to-be who's also really nice; a little sexist (kidding!) and a great guy to hang out with) and 3. Judy (a freshman who is totally awesome, aka we agree on just about everything :D) Apparently Judy thinks Richard has a crush on me. I think he's just being nice. Just like everyone else, since I'm the girl from Cali who has no friends here. But what do I know?

Um... Saturday. Oh, btw... Dad and I spent the weekend at Will's. Julia's room is beyond pink. Everything is pink. And not nice pink, it's like, hot freaking permanantly glowing pink. I'm serious. You close her door, and you can see a pink aura around her doorframe. It's that scary. And the lights aren't even on in the room. It's just the pinkness of it all. So, Saturday, we (dad, me, Will, his parents) went to see some plantation houses. Very old, very beautiful, and totally awesome gardens. I finally got to upload a few piccies :D

Here's a swan that was swimming around in the lake. It took like, 5 minutes to take this photo because the swan was apparently hungry so it kept turning around and dipping its head into the water... x_X

This was a really pretty lily that caught my eye. I was afraid the photo would be blurry, since the camera I'm using is your average little digicam used by tourists when they go places. So, all in all, I'm pretty pleased with this pic. Especially since I've never taken any photo classes, and didn't bother to read the instruction manual for the camera, which was bought two days before I left for France (yes, I will post piccies soon... when I get back to Cali)

Another piccie of a flower I took... I don't know... these orchids are just so pretty! I like the colors. ^_^ And I know you're probably like, OMG YOU FLOWER FREAK SHADDUP! But I mean, lookaddit! Pretty colors!!! (ignore the dead wilted looking one in the corner) ... although if I hadn't said anything, you might not have even noticed... >.> but in case you did notice, there's the little side note. AH... the woes of life.

Okay... so this one didn't turn out as well... but again, the colors were pretty. Would have been nicer if the flower hadn't been half dead, wilted, and covered in sun-spots thanks to the GORGEOUS weather here in New Orleans. *end sarcasm* God... I must say... hibiscus plants are supposed to like hot humid weather too. Gah... even THEY can't stand the New Orleans heat. I mean, I'm out at like, 9AM in nothing but a tshirt (and pants) for less than five minutes and I'm already sweating like a pig and dying from heat stroke. In Cali, at 9AM I'm either still smothered in my blankets or wearing a sweater at school, depending on the day of the week.
And that's all for now. I'd show you the plantation mansion, but it's late, I still have 4 more days to go through, and I'm feeling mean cuz Daddy-o turned off the tellie and so I want you to spend $50 on tour tickets (not to mention to plane ticket or gas price if you live out of town/state/country) if you wanna see the mansion. But no really, it wasn't that great. Just any other big old house that looks old. And renovated. If you really want, just watch The Skeleton Key and imagine the inside of the house to be a little more lavish and pretty. Okay, make that a whole lot more. But you get the point. And anyways... truth is, I spent so much time on the pretty little flowers I kinda ran outa batteries for the whole house part of it. xD Yeah, lame, I know.
Okay, moving on to Sunday. Sunday... I... um. Well, Will's family is all religious, so they dragged me to church with them. And they made me sing with all the adults. In chinese. It was GREAT. (can you feel the sarcasm dripping down yet?) So, not only was it in chinese, I'd never even heard OF the songs before, and all they did was shove the music sheet under my nose five minutes before we were supposed to perform and said, "Don't worry; you'll do fine! :D" x___X
Apparently, I did pretty well (THANK YOU MRS. KESSLER!!!) and Richard and Judy complimented me on my singing. So that was pretty cool. And, after praying and singing and all that other churchish stuff (and um... truth be told, I'm not religious, like, AT ALL, and so when they're like, PRAY TIME!!! And the whole room is silent for like, 10 minutes... I'm left clueless. So, I decided to do some nice little thinking and thought up an awesome outfit to wear to the TH concert in August. I know, not very religious-like, but one could argue that music is my religion. MIYAVIZM ALL THE WAY YEAH!!!! WOOOT!!!) Then we went to "sunday school" which is actually a lot cooler than it sounds. Basically the guys played pingpong for awhile, then we all sat down, ate some candy and cookies, and talked and joked about sex and drugs for an hour. Then we had lunch. It was gumbo, and let me tell you, it was absolutely disgusting. I had two bites and decided that lunch was better spent nagging Carol, our teacher person to draw me stuff. Which she did. And it's awesome. And I would totally post it, but I don't have a scanner. No one seems to have a scanner here. X_X So, yeah. That has become my sole reason for going to church now. It sounds horrible, and every single church-goer/religious person in the world has probably condemned me to hell by now, but darn it Lorrie I'm a music and art whore and I admit it. humph.
So, after church, I went back to Will's house, binged on their 100 calorie cookie-candy packs (emptied the whole box x2) and ate more stuff. Played mahjong for the rest of the day and watched Prince Caspian again. Condemned Peter to death and mentally tortured him to death again, about a bajillion more times than during the first viewing :)
Monday and Tuesday were both average days. Monday I skipped Dad's lecture (I went to one on Friday morning; people thought I was a grad student until some smart kid saw the physical resemblences daddy-o and I have) and slept until around noon. Got up, ate chocolate for breakfast, and watched tv. Went to work in the afternoon, did some homework and prepared my cell cultures for defection on Tuesday, which took the whole day. Waited six hours in between though for the cell cultures to grow enough to split them again. So. I'm pretty proud of myself. Japanese 3 course curriculum; a years work to be done over the summer. I just finished a whole semester's work in one week. Yes, one week. And no, in case you haven't read anything until these two lines, I haven't been burrowing myself in the corner doing hw nonstop. It's been crazy hectic, which a few hours a day if I'm lucky. It was very exciting for me, although I skipped the whole project on going to some Japanese person's house for tea, interviewing them, and giving a huge class presentation on it. Yeah... I deemed that impossible to do here, so I just read over the stuff we're supposed to do, practiced dialogue lines, and wrote up an interview. Yeah. I'm proud of myself. Although sensei messed up on some of the vocab lists... some words she didn't list translation meanings, and others she left out altogether. So there's this passage I have to read and answer questions about, and there's this whole paragraph where it's like, WTF? And, some pages are missing from the packet (more like textbook) while others are duplicated. I'll be emailing her soon with a few questions... she's the nicest lady you'll ever meet though, so it's hard to get mad at her. :D
And... today. This has got to be the longest entry ever. At least there are a few pictures... okay I'll get on with it. So, I went to work this morning... it was freaking Lorrie bad getting up though. So, I ate breakfast (cereal, about 200 calories) then went to work for about an hour before leaving for my Law School tour. Ate lunch before I left... spaghetti and chicken parmesian. Very delicious, probably a bajillion squared calories though. I need to lose weight. BAD. I need to lose 25lbs to get back to my normal non-obese weight. It's horrible. And I'm not even freaking legal yet. T_T And yet, I have this craving for chocolate and candy bars 24/7. x_X Not helping AT ALL. So, after the tour I went to the gym for 4 hours, and went on the bicycle thing. Apparently I've lost 900 calories, but I think the machine malfunctioned or something. So I'm going to say 800 calories lost; just knock off the last 100. Yup. I'm dead tired though, and my legs feel like jelly. Only worse. For dinner, it was more cereal, a bowl of watermelon, and some leftover veggies, aka broccoli and celery. Oh my lorrie was dinner yummeh. And I'm not even being sarcastic.
So, um, yeah. That pretty much brings me up to date, thank the Lorrie. And I'm still craving chocolate, and kind of wanting a shower right now... >.> and it's almost midnight here, so I'm going to log off, pop in the shower and go to bed. I wanna get my beauty sleep. I didn't spend a fortune on stupid makeup (I hate peer pressure, especially when I succumb to it) just to cover up the dark bags under my eyes from lack of sleep, although I think I've got a permanent set of 'em already... >.> Bet you didn't need to know that. xD
Loves~
